As believers, we’re often encouraged to share our goals and aspirations with others, seeking support and accountability. However, there’s a delicate balance between sharing our vision and keeping it private.

God’s omnipotence reminds us that He’s the ultimate source of power and guidance. Yet, in our enthusiasm to share our goals, we may unintentionally seek validation from others rather than trusting in God’s plan.

While sharing our goals may seem harmless, it can lead to:

• Distractions: When we share our goals, we may receive unsolicited advice or criticism, distracting us from our focus.
• Comparison: Sharing our goals can foster comparison with others, leading to discouragement or pride.
• Pressure: Publicly sharing our goals can create undue pressure to perform, rather than trusting in God’s timing.

So, what happens when we keep our goals private?

• Increased focus: By keeping our goals to ourselves, we can maintain our focus and avoid distractions.
• Deeper trust: Trusting God with our goals fosters a deeper reliance on His sovereignty.
• Genuine motivation: When our goals are private, our motivation stems from a genuine desire to please God, rather than seeking external validation.

As you set your goals for the new year, consider keeping them private. Instead of sharing your aspirations with others, share them with God.

Let your results speak for you. Allow your accomplishments to demonstrate your hard work and dedication, rather than seeking external validation.

In a world that often values transparency and accountability, it’s counterintuitive to keep our goals private. However, by trusting God with our aspirations and keeping them to ourselves, we can cultivate a deeper trust in His sovereignty and maintain our focus on what truly matters.
