Bible reference :

2 Samuel chapter 11 to 16

David fell in love with Uriah’s wife. Gets him killed, they have a son.
God strikes the son with terminal illness. David, begs and pleads with God to restore his sons health. He fasts, doesn’t eat or drink anything and sleeps on the floor.
On the 7th day the servants confirm the death of his son.
What does David do?
Goes to the temple and worships God.
Now again when Absalom, driven by his own resentment towards his father, tries to seize the throne and become king in David’s place, spreads lies about David and riles up the community, what does David do?
He accepts the swearing and cursing as the possible will of God.

David’s response to adversity and hardship in these situations from the Bible demonstrates several aspects of his character and faith:

1. Regarding his son’s illness and death:

– David fasts and prays fervently for his son’s recovery, demonstrating his deep love and concern as a father.

– Despite his intense grief at the news of his son’s death, David turns to worshiping God at the temple. This shows his acknowledgment of God’s sovereignty and his trust in God’s ultimate wisdom and plan, even in times of personal tragedy.

2. Regarding Absalom’s rebellion:

– Absalom, David’s own son, rebels against him and seeks to take his throne. This is a deeply painful betrayal from within his own family.

– Instead of reacting with anger or retaliation, David accepts this situation as possibly being within God’s will. He recognizes that even difficult circumstances can be allowed by God for reasons beyond his immediate understanding.

In both instances, David’s responses reflect his faith in God’s sovereignty, his humility to accept God’s will even when it brings suffering or adversity, and his commitment to worshiping and seeking God in all circumstances.

David’s life offers timeless lessons for those navigating their own journeys of faith and adversity. His unwavering trust in God amidst trials, his repentance and humility in the face of sin, and his resilience in times of personal and national crisis serve as an example to all who seek to walk faithfully with God.

May God help us to be more like David.
May we, like David, strive to live lives that honor God, acknowledging our weaknesses, seeking forgiveness when we stumble, and trusting in His providence through every triumph and trial.

Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

1 Timothy 1:17

Amen❤️
